Back at the lake

Wow that’s better. Last time I was out here it was a bit of a bust but I thought it had good bones, now it’s looking fantastic. And I was right: I think the manager’s mood has improved along with the weather. She actually smiled when I asked her if the bar was open. OF course it wasn’t, but she smiled. Come to think of it, I think maybe she smiled because it was closed. Anyway, I brought a beer and a sandwich in the car so it was a good day.

I’m surprised there aren’t more people here already. Early in the season I suppose, but it’s not completely off the beaten track. You do get a glimpse of the lake from the road and it’s actually quite breathtaking. And silent, apart form the odd boater out there. I think I saw the ranger this morning, not sure what he has to do out here but looks like a plum job to me. Better than pushing pencils back at the office anyway.

I could imagine staying up here for a while. A good few years maybe. But not today — I still don’t like the look of those cabins, and actually I’m a bit anxious about asking that Doris woman where to put my RV for fear she might tell me.

Beautiful spot, though.
